Name change
Kindly note that when a person changes his/her name in the UK or elsewhere, this does not automatically mean the name change is accepted in St. Kitts and Nevis.
- If a citizen changes his/ her name in the United Kingdom by virtue of marriage or deed poll, this would be valid in the United Kingdom. In order to have the name change recognised in St. Kitts and Nevis, the citizen would also have to register the name change in the Federation. Once the name change has been successfully processed, the name change will be displayed in the observation page of his/her passport.
- To execute a name-change in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, an individual would need to contact a lawyer within the Federation to process the change by deed poll. The St. Kitts and Nevis Bar Association has a list of lawyers (https://www.sknbar.org/)
- The standard government fees associated with a name change by deed poll are as follows:
- $5.00 Stamp duty
- $5.00 sworn fee
- $2.00 filing the name change.
- Legal fee – $750.00. Please note that this fee is set by the Bar Council.
